The Montreal-based private company was founded in 2000 by reconfigurable computing experienced businessmen, technologists, and experts in the field of Digital Signal Processing, FPGA and VLSI designs. The company's major strengths are its people, management, engineering know-how, technologies repository, design methodologies, marketing vision and knowledge.

Through out the years of their involvement in reconfigurable computing, and through their experiences in marketing these technologies, the founders have developed the concept of what has become a unique Integrated Development Environment (IDE) technology: CADRE (see "technology" for more details).

The company's resources and staff include a network of VLSI scientists, FPGA and ASIC specialists, and computer sciences and IEEE PhDs. that support Codesign's development efforts.

One of Codesign's founders, its President; Pierre Popovic B.Sc, has also founded MiroTech Microsystems in 1991, a company which was involved in the development of reconfigurable computing platforms. Prior to this, he held senior system sales positions with large multinational computer companies. Other founders include the company's Chief Technology Officer and engineering staff.
